Specifications
How Word add-in works, what it includes, and where its limits are.
How it works
Open the contract
Open the document in Word. The side panel reads the text you have open.
Run a review
Choose Review risks. On Professional and up you can also choose Check against playbook and redline.
Read the findings or the changes
The risk review lists its findings in the panel. The playbook check adds tracked changes and comments in the document.
Or rewrite and draft
Select a clause and choose Rewrite selected clause, or place the cursor and choose Draft and insert at cursor. Type an instruction first if you want one.
Accept or reject
In Word, accept the changes you agree with and reject the rest. Nothing is final until you decide.
What it includes, in full
Tracked changes, not overwrites
The playbook check adds each proposed change as a Word tracked change with a comment that explains it. The original text stays until you accept.
Exact matches only
A change goes in only where the quoted clause appears word for word. Otherwise it is added at the end of the document as a tracked addition, so nothing lands in the wrong place.
Rewrite a clause, draft new text
Select a clause and press Rewrite, or place the cursor and press Draft. Add an instruction if you want one. The result arrives as one tracked change with a comment. If your firm has a playbook, a rewrite follows the matching position.
Risk review in the panel
On every plan, the risk review reads the open contract and lists the clauses to look at, without changing the document.
Your Track Changes setting kept
Track Changes is switched on for the playbook check and set back to what it was afterwards.
Signed in as you
The panel shows whose account is connected, your name and firm.
Install it once
Download the add-in file
Download it from the install page at ramtekintelligence.com/word-addin.
Add it in Word
In Word on the web: Home, then Add-ins, then More Add-ins, then My Add-ins, then Manage My Add-ins, then Upload My Add-in, and choose the file. Steps for Word on a desktop are on the install page.
Open the panel
A Ramtek group appears on the Home tab. Choose Review contract.
Choose Sign in in the panel and, if asked, allow the window to open. If you are already logged in to Ramtek in that browser, it passes straight through.
Sign-in lasts 12 hours, then you sign in again.
The limits, stated plainly
Document length
A review reads up to 50,000 characters of the open document, the same limit as the Contract Analyzer on the web.
Rewrite and draft
A rewrite reads the selected clause and up to about 3,000 characters on each side of it. A draft is limited to a short instruction. The text arrives as a tracked change, so the original stays until you decide.
AI actions
A risk review, a rewrite and a draft each use one AI action, and a playbook check uses two. Your plan's monthly allowance applies, as on the web.
The playbook
The playbook check needs a playbook saved on the AI Configuration page, up to 20 clause positions. Without one, only the risk review is available.
Where it has been tested
We have tested the add-in in Word on the web. Install steps for Word on a desktop are on the install page.
What it does not do
- Change the document with the risk review. Only the playbook check, rewrite and draft add tracked changes
- Decide for you what a clause should say: a rewrite is a proposal
- Send, file or sign anything
- Accept a change for you
- Check case citations (the review covers the contract, not the case law)
- Replace attorney review of the contract
Review the next contract in Word.
Seven days, no card required.
Results are drafts for attorney review. Nothing is filed, sent or signed for you. The same review also runs in the Contract Analyzer.
